What must you do to get your accont switched over to canadian. Is there an amount of time you need to be there? Would a summer suffice? What do they require?

They require a Canadian bank account to get certified and a copy of your utility bill for proof of residence.

When I registered with Neteller, no utility bill is necessary. Phone number reveals location of customer. Neteller requires a phone conversation about personal information provided before activating new account. Bank numbers for electronic fund transfer reveal location of bank.

Neteller does not seem to require the phone conversation. My phone has not rung yet. They used to phone...

But who cares - would you send money to Neteller right now from any country? Not me.

You said "new account" - which wouldnt help. The idea is to switch over the u.s. account which has the funds in it otherwise it doesnt solve the problem.

From neteller:

To change residency, there are several criteria that must be met:

1) you must reside at the country at which your address is registered in
2) account certification documents are required and they are as follows:
- government issued idenitification ( driver license, identification card, passport)
- statement with your address and name (bank statement, credit card statement, phone bill or utility bill)
3) phone confirmation must be completed at the phone number registered in your NETeller account upon activation.

You may email all documents to addesschanges@Neteller.com

So you need a Canadian forwarding address (google to find one), Canadian VOIP tel #, and setup a Canadian bank account (using Canadian forwarding address).

Then send them copy of US Passport (plenty of Americans living in Canada) and Bank statement showing the Canadian address. Answer your VOIP # if/when required.

Done deal.

Ironically I'll probably have to do the same thing, even though I live in Costa Rica. There is no postal mail service here (to speak of), so most everyone uses courier addresses, unfortunately in Florida USA. Many places don't allow you to specify seperate physical and mailing addresses, so when provided a U.S. mailing address they just assume that means U.S. resident.

Will the Canadian banks let you just tell them your address without any type of proof you're living there?
